A standard tapping for cutting common threads. China used to call the high-speed manufacturing steel taps with high manufacturing accuracy as machine taps, and call the tool teeth or incisor taps of carbon tool steel or alloy tool taps as hand taps. In fact, the structure and working principles of them are basically the same.

Usually, the taps are made up of a working part and a handle. The working section is also divided into cutting parts and calibration parts. The former has a cutting cone, which takes on cutting work, and the latter is used to calibrate the size and shape of the thread.
